More Information
Jerry M. "Jay" Harre retired after 27 years in the United States Marine Corps, the last 20 years on active duty as a lawyer and Marine Judge Advocate. He has primarily worked as a trial counsel, prosecuting cases against Marine and Navy personnel on behalf of the U.S. government. In that vein, he has prosecuted cases involving strictly military offenses, such as unauthorized absence and failure to obey orders, to more serious offenses including sexual assault, child sexual abuse, aggravated battery, and attempted murder. Jerry has been trained and certified as a "special victims cases" prosecutor, handling cases involving sensitive victimization issues including sexual assault, sexual battery, and child sex offenses. He is also a graduate of the litigator's course at the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory USACIL, with a focus on physical evidence collection and forensics, including urinalysis, DNA testing and expert testimony, fingerprinting, and scene photography. Finally, Jerry served three years as a military justice and trial advocacy instructor at the Naval Justice School in Newport, RI. There he taught new-accession lawyers the basics of criminal and administrative investigations and the prosecution of cases in trials by courts-martial. He also taught courses to military police and newly-selected Marine and Navy commanders on a myriad of legal areas including command authority, investigations, courts-martial process, constitutional law, and ethical rules and regulations.
