The Criminal Defense Investigation Expert – Beyond the Technical Skills
This course is designed for season criminal defense investigators who have developed and sharply honed the technical skills of criminal defense investigation and evidence recovery.The investigators role as an agent of counsel will be addressed as well as the work-product doctrine and responsibilities associated with the due process model.The investigator’s duty to understand and navigate the Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure and Applicable Rules of Evidence will also be a topic of study.In addition, the nuanced approach to fact gathering will be discussed as it relates to the development of fact driven and compelling defense theories and concepts that extend beyond the limits of physical evidence.

| Brandon A. Perron, C.C.D.I. – Brandon Perron is a professional licensed private investigator, criminal justice trainer and expert consultant since 1989. He has also served meritoriously as a Criminal Investigator with the United States Air Force and as a Florida Public Defender Investigator for the 19th Judicial Circuit where he continues in the capacity of a Consulting Training Director. He is currently the National Director of the Criminal Defense Investigation Training Counsel responsible for the certification and training of criminal defense investigators across the United States and Canada. In addition to Florida’s Judicial Circuits, Mr. Perron continues active consulting and investigation with indigent defense agencies in Boston, MA and the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County. In 1994, he developed the Component Method of Criminal Defense Investigation. In addition, he has authored Uncovering Reasonable Doubt: The Component Method and The FTER Method - Forensic Testimonial Evidence Recovery, which are used to train criminal defense investigators in the public and private sectors. In 1998 he was named one of the "Top Ten Private Investigation Leaders in the United States” by P.I. Magazine and has been qualified by the courts as an "expert in criminal investigation.” The National Association of Investigative Specialist named him the 1999 "Most Dynamic Speaker”. In 2002, he was awarded the Kentucky Public Advocate Award. In addition, the National Association of Investigative Specialist also named him the Investigator of the Year for 2003 and 2004. The Florida Board of Certified Investigators presented Mr. Perron with the 2005 Award of Excellence for "distinguished service in the area of educational advancement.” Mr. Perron’s experience includes the investigation of thousands of complex criminal cases and hundreds of 1st Degree Murder Cases involving the Death Penalty. Mr. Perron is one of the most sought after trainers and speakers within the discipline of criminal defense investigation and professional investigation. |
