This month's speaker will This month's speaker will be Investigator Paul Michelson, who has been employed by the Seminole County Sheriff's Office since 2007. Prior to his employment with SCSO, Investigator Michelson completed a variety of courses, including Basic Fraud Investigations, Surveillance Techniques, General Instructor Techniques and Title 19 Cross Training Designation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Michelson is currently a member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators. Prior to his career in law enforcement, he worked in the banking and finance industry since 1989 as a bank manager, mortgage broker, commercial lender and investment representative. Michelson has been assigned to the Seminole Financial Crimes Task Force since January 2010. Michelson has conducted hundreds of criminal investigations which have led to the arrest and successful prosecution of financial crime suspects.

The Seminole Financial Crimes Task Force (SFCTF) was formed in May of 2011. The SFCTF is headed by a sergeant and comprised of five Sheriff’s Office investigators, two Sanford Police Department investigators, one Altamonte Springs Police Department investigator, and one Casselberry Police Department investigator. The SFCTF is established on a team-based organizational structure to bolster collaboration and communication amongst investigators and task force partners. All of the investigators work in the Diversified Investigative Service Division and communicate crime trends and case information to identify criminals that cross jurisdictional boundaries. The SFCTF focuses on the investigation of identity theft, credit card fraud, check fraud, embezzlement, real estate and mortgage fraud, organized fraud, and other complex financial crimes.
About the meeting: This is a FREE event is open to ALL members (or potential members) of the investigative professions. The event is sponsored by the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators (FALI) as part of our continuing efforts to provide our membership with quality educational and networking opportunities. FALI meetings held in the Orlando area are made available for those investigators living or working in central Florida and are open to ALL investigators across the state. Central Florida Area meetings are normally held the last Tuesday of every month.
