Jeffrey Ashton, State Attorney, 9th Judicial Circuit 
Mr. Ashton is a native of St. Petersburg, Florida. He graduated from Boca Ciega High School and St. Petersburg College. He studied law at the University of Florida School of Law and following graduation, became a prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney in Orlando. As an Assistant State Attorney Ashton became the first lawyer to earn a conviction by introducing DNA evidence in a criminal case. More recently, and still as an Assistant State Attorney, he was lead prosecutor in the highly-publicized Casey Anthony trial. Following the Anthony experience, Ashton resigned from the office and ran for office and was elected in November 2012 to the position he assumed in January of this year. Lifetime network aired a movie, "Prosecuting Casey Anthony.” The character of Jeff Ashton was portrayed by actor Rob Lowe. Criminal justice issues are much in the news. Central Florida has been the focus of much of it. Mr. Ashton will have topical comments and field questions. Topic: Conduct of criminal investigations and liaison with prosecutors
About the meeting: This is a FREE event is open to ALL members (or potential members) of the investigative professions. The event is sponsored by the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators (FALI) as part of our continuing efforts to provide our membership with quality educational and networking opportunities. FALI meetings held in the Orlando area are made available for those investigators living or working in central Florida and are open to ALL investigators across the state. Central Florida Area meetings are normally held the last Tuesday of every month at the Best Western Inn, 17-92 and Morse Blvd., Winter Park, FL. If you are traveling and need overnight accommodations, the Best Western offers discounted rates. Dinner before the meeting: If you are interested in dining together around 5:00 p.m. at a venue somewhat near the meeting place, please contact me Individuals would be responsible for the cost of their meal.
