Dr. Steven Handwerker
Exploring Methods and Techniques for Private Investigation and Security Professionals to Better Detect, Intervene and Prevent Work Place Violence and Addiction Issues
Dr. Steven Handwerker received his doctorate degree from New York University and post-doctoral certification from Hofstra University. He began his practice as head of Psychological Services at “The Holistic Health Center” in Manhasset, NY. His efforts at the Center helped develop it into a college offering a degree program in studies of Alternative medicine. Dr. Handwerker is licensed in New York, Florida and South Dakota. His professional accomplishments include having been the first Chairman of Membership for the Division of Peace Psychology of the American Psychological Association. He is currently a member of the Scientific and Professional Board for the Institute for Crisis Management, a division of the Department of Homeland Security. Dr. Handwerker is also a certified Supreme Court Family Mediator and is board certified in Trauma Therapy
Dr. Handwerker has authored two books and many articles on Peace Psychology and lectured at American Psychological Association conferences and conventions over 100 times in 17 years, as well as local colleges and interfaith organizations focusing on Peace, Humanitarian and Sustainable Interventions and Paradigms and Humanistic Psychology.
