Guest Speaker is: Sheryl G. Steckler is
the Inspector General for the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Palm Beach
County.
Sheryl G. Steckler is the Inspector General for the Office of
Inspector General (OIG), Palm Beach County.
The Office consists of three units: Investigations, Audit, and Contract
Oversight. Ms. Steckler’s jurisdiction
includes all projects, programs, contracts and transactions that are funded in
whole or in part by the county and all 38 municipalities. The inspector general
may contract with outside entities deemed necessary to perform the functions of
that office. Currently, the Solid Waste
Authority has voluntarily contracted with the OIG for their services.
Ms. Steckler has worked in law enforcement and criminal justice
related positions for over 26 years.
Prior to her arrival in Palm Beach, she was the Inspector General for
the State of Florida, Department of Children & Families since October 2002. She also spent 8 years as the Director for
Pinellas County, Florida Consumer Protection which included Mediation, Criminal
Investigations, and Regulatory Oversight.
Ms. Steckler was also with the Florida Auditor General’s office in
Performance Auditing and Public Assistance Fraud for over 9 years. Ms. Steckler is currently a Certified
Inspector General and Certified Inspector General Investigator and an InfraGard
member with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (Homeland Security). She is also a former certified law
enforcement officer.
In her role as Inspector General at the Department of Children
& Families, Ms. Steckler led the way for her office to become the first
accredited Inspector General’s office in the nation. Ms. Steckler holds a
master’s degree in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Criminology
from Florida State University. She is
currently an Executive Board member for the National Association of Inspectors
General and former President for the Florida State Chapter of the Association of
Inspectors General. Ms. Steckler has held
elected positions as President and Vice President of Conferences for the
National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators and has also served as a
member (appointed by the Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer
Services) of the Florida’s Consumer Council.
She will discuss the following topic: Overview of the ordinance and jurisdiction

The area 10 meetings are returning! It’s time to network with
other professionals in your area! As always, everyone is invited!
Bring your wives, your husbands, your interns or other investigators you may
know or anyone that would like to attend! Even though this is a FALI
meeting, both members and NON members are always welcome to attend our
meetings!
Here is the deal: This is a DINNER meeting. Everyone will
choose off of the menu what they want and will pay for their meal on their own.
The same applies to bar purchases.
WE HAVE TO HAVE A HEAD COUNT so PLEASE RSVP with a one word "Yes” or "No” so we get a room
that will hold all of us!
Dinner will be served in our own private dining
room from 6:00 to 7:30.
YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR OWN BILL FOR DINNER AND BAR DRINKS.
