Tampa Bay Area Investigators Meeting

There will be a Combined FALI Area 1 Hillsborough, Polk, and Highlands Counties, and FALI Area 3 Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Citrus, and Sumter Counties Meeting on Monday February 22, 2011 at 6 pm.

Speaker:  Caryn Baird, a News Researcher at the St. Petersburg Times newspaper.  Caryn is well known for her extensive knowledge of advanced research techniques and the use of internet resources.

Topic:   Caryn will give a twenty-minute presentation on some of the research techniques that she finds useful at the newspaper and then we will throw the floor open for questions from those in attendance.  If your question is research or internet related, Caryn will be able to answer it--I guarantee it !!   One of Caryn's main tasks at the newspaper is to provide the research that the reporters and writers either don't have the ability to gather; or the time to gather the information.  In the old days (that was a couple of years ago), the newspaper news researchers worked behind the scenes, doing the work but receiving no credit.  Nowadays, it has become common practice to give the news researchers a co-byline, alongside the reporters credit.  So, come meet Caryn; pick up some research tips that you can use in your own business; and then when you see her byline on the next newspaper story, you'll be able to tell friends that you shook Caryn's hand.

For those attending there will be other investigators on hand as early as 5:30 PM for early networking. Credit for CEU’s for our Florida Certified Investigators (FCI) will be issued for this meeting. Roy Pierce FCI, CLI, will be available at the meeting to discuss how to become a Florida Certified Investigator (FCI) and the program. There will also be an early sidebar meeting among those of you that are JAC court appointed investigators in attendance.

We have in attendance as private investigators former and retired investigative reporters, law firm in-house investigators, attorney, insurance and adjuster field, medical field, military, federal agents, state and local law enforcement, and all aspects of the business world.
