A message from Area Director Dennis Root
Greetings to all of my fellow investigators, from the great State of Tennessee! I pray each of you is well. This month’s area meeting is in response to the overwhelming requests I have received for education on basic photography for investigators. I am pleased to announce that Robert Wyman has graciously invested his time in presenting this topic for us.

This will be an interactive presentation with hands-on exercises for operating your camera system. Please be sure to bring your camera, a tripod (if you have one) and the camera’s owner’s manual (at least a .PDF version of the manual) for reference. To ensure we have this opportunity, we have moved our meeting from Monday (04/15/19) to Tuesday (04/16/19). The presentation will be 1.5 hours long, so the meeting will begin at 6:30pm instead of 7:00pm.

Meeting Topic:  Basic Photography for Professional Investigators

The importance of properly collecting and recording evidence is something every professional investigator understands. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, a quality picture is. It is essential for you to know how to use your DSLR camera in a way that best serves you and your client.

In an age where everyone considers their cellphone to be enough, it is essential for the professional investigator to possess dedicated DSLR camera equipment. The quality of the final product is far superior to that of the standard inexpensive point and shoot cameras.

Please be sure to let us know the kind of camera you use (cellphone, DSLR, etc.), so we can better tailor the presentation to meet your needs. This program is for you, so please bring the following items with you:

  • Camera
  • Tripod (if you have one)
  • Your camera’s owner’s manual (or at least a .PDF version for reference)
