This presentation provides a general overview, background, and practical knowledge that will assist investigators when deciphering information relating to Florida’s motor vehicle license plates, ownership or title records, and driver’s licenses. About the speaker:
Les Cravens has been employed by Auto Data Direct (ADD), Inc. since October 2012 as Director of Law Enforcement and Policy Compliance. Prior to going to work for ADD, Cravens spent 31 years with the Miami-Dade Police Department. During his tenure there he spent 25 years assigned to the Multi-Agency Auto Theft Task Force where he specialized in auto theft and other auto related investigations, including vehicle title and registration frauds, salvage vehicle enforcement and salvage title frauds, export of stolen vehicles, VIN alterations, odometer frauds and towing enforcement. Following his retirement, Cravens spent an additional five years as a reserve officer volunteer assigned to the Miami-Dade Auto Theft Task Force at the Port of Miami. In addition to his Law Enforcement investigative duties, Cravens developed instructional programs for law enforcement, and industry members, aimed at enforcement, prevention and compliance with federal, state, and local laws pertaining to auto theft and vehicle related crimes. Cravens serves on the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrator’s - NMVTIS Law Enforcement Work Group and Fraud Awareness Group, the Florida Auto Theft Intelligence Unit - DMV Advisory & Legislative Committees, and the International Association of Chiefs of Police – Vehicle Crimes Committee. Cravens is a licensed Private Investigator, certified LE Instructor, a Florida DHSMV Rebuilt Vehicle Examination Inspector Instructor, and frequently conducts presentations for Auto Theft Investigator Associations, Vehicle Theft Prevention Authorities, State Motor Vehicle Departments, the Broward Institute of Criminal Justice, the Miami-Dade Police Department, and various Law Enforcement agencies and associations.
