FALI LEGISLATIVE NEWS ALERT

FALI LEGISLATIVE NEWS ALERT

Dear Members:

After listening to member concerns about our switch in services with our lobbyist from full service, to just monitoring, President Root and I approached Cynthia Henderson about our situation, and see if there was anything that she and Cynergy could do to work with us. I am pleased to report that the FALI Board recently voted on, and approved a new contract whereby we can have a combination of monitoring services, organization of Hit the Hill, and add on services should a bill come up that impacts our industry. We appreciate Cynergy’s willingness to work with us so we can continue using their services. On that note. . .

The FALI Officers will be “Hitting the Hill” with Cynergy March 26th – 28th, to meet with our state elected representatives in Tallahassee, to discuss issues on behalf of FALI. We are also hoping to meet with the new Director of the Division of Licensing, Stephen Hurm and maybe the new Commissioner of Agriculture, Nikki Fried.

In and effort to best represent our membership, I would appreciate if you can contact me by March 15th with any concerns, or suggestions, you would like us to bring up during our meetings in addition to our ongoing effort to addressing the Tax Code Florida Licensed Private Investigators are currently categorized under with the Department of Revenue. So far some of the issues that members have expressed concern about are:
  • Merging license information for individuals who possess multiple state licenses; i.e. D, G, C, and so forth. One License with all the endorsements on the back.
  • Stopping the requirement for submitting fingerprints with each license on DOL record.
  • Clearly define employee, ambiguity between 493 and other State Statutes. Must be W-2 employee as only sub-contractors (other agency owners) can be 1099.

Please email the issues you would like addressed to mark@keckinvestigation.com with Legislative Issues in the Subject Line no later that March 15, 2019.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Respectfully,

Mark H. Lynn
