The FALI
Legislative Committee has received an important update from our
lobbyists, Robert Levy of Robert M. Levy & Associates and Cynthia
Henderson of Cynergy Consulting.
Senate Bill 298, filed on our
behalf by Senator Gregs Evers, has been placed on the Senate Criminal
Justice Committee meeting agenda for Tuesday, October 13th. Ms.
Henderson, along with Legislative Committee member Burt Hodge, will be
in attendance at the meeting.
Over the next week, it is important that
FALI members, as well as their colleagues, employees, clients, and
other interested parties, contact the Criminal Justice Committee members
to express their support of this bill.
Below is a sample letter that may
be used. At the least, please copy this letter on to your business
letterhead and then email each committee member as soon as possible.
This is the "minimum” information that should be included in any letter
sent for the maximum impact. Those who want, can take it a step further,

The Honorable Senator________
Criminal Justice Committee Member

Dear Senator_____________:
I am writing to respectfully request your positive vote on SB 298,
an act relating to Installation of Tracking Devices or Tracking
Applications. This bill is scheduled for hearing during the October 20th
Criminal Justice Committee Meeting.
This bill prohibits the use of tracking device by anyone who does
so for deceptive means or in commission of a crime. This in turn
reverses a law that was passed in the last Session that unfairly singled
out private investigators.
As a licensed private investigator in the State of Florida, and a
member of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators (FALI), the
3rd largest PI association in the country, I am making this request ,
along with other members, many who use this technology extensively to
protect victims of domestic violence, stalking, workplace violence,
child abuse and parental abduction.
I appreciate your consideration of this request. If you have any
questions please feel free to contact me at ________________
Sincerely yours, Your Name Agency Name License numbers
