Tampa Bay Area FALI
Tuesday, March 25, 2014 - 6:00PM
Speaker: Royce “Rayce” Wilson - SRI Investigations
Topic: “How a Forensic Expert can assist with your Investigation”
Royce Wilson proudly worked in law enforcement forensics for more than 35 years, retiring in 2012 from his position as the Forensic Services Bureau Commander for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. He has been involved in countless homicide and other suspicious death investigations, including three different notorious serial murder investigations. He remains on as a member of the Cold Case Team with the Sheriff’s Office and continues to work tirelessly with homicide and cold case detectives, lending his expertise in forensic matters to their investigations. He is a founding partner in SRI Investigations, a private investigations firm in Tampa, and in his spare time (whatever that is) he enjoys writing detective novels with technical and procedural accuracy.
His forensics background includes:
- Working as a CSI
- Fingerprint Expert
- Provided expert testimony on approximately 400 occasions
- Instructor and guest lecturer in crime scene investigation matters
- Trained in bloodstain analysis
- Member of the Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Team
- Featured in an episode of A&E’s BloodWorks Series (in the U.S. it is shown on the ID channel)
- Was involved in three serial murderer investigations: Bobby Joe Long in Tampa, Oscar Ray Bolin in Tampa and Pasco County, and Danny Harold Rolling in Gainesville, Florida.
If your agency handles cases in which physical evidence plays a role, or if you review death cases for clients who want to know if their loved one really committed suicide, or any other case where a forensic expert may be able to help, you won’t want to miss Royce’s presentation. Although he won’t be able to turn you into an expert that night, you will leave with an understanding of physical evidence that will help you make decisions in the future.
