Dear Members:

Please note that our February Meeting will "not" be on the second Tuesday, which is Valentine's Day. We figured it would be in everyone's "best interest" to move the meeting. The third Tuesday was not available so we will have it on the fourth "Thursday," February 23rd. Apologies for any confusion. The Mariott is gracious enough to host our meetings free of charge so every now and then, we do have to be flexible. We hope to see you there!

Topic:
Conducting Investigations in Cuba

The interest in Cuba of U.S. private investigators, is not new. Even before the Coup D'état of 1959, many private investigation agencies in Florida had investigators in Cuba. During Castro's regime, many PIs, bodyguards, and bounty hunters, made their move into Cuba. Some of them were confronted, or arrested. Now, with the new diplomatic relationship between Cuba and the US, many people believe Cuba is open for PI business. Be careful, it is not what it seems. This presentation will educate PIs about the reality, legality and obstacles of conducting investigations in Cuba.

About the Speaker:

Fernando Alvarez is a Private Detective and Security Consultant, specialist in family, civil, criminal, corporate, fraud and missing person investigations. As the author of a series of ten handbooks on investigation and security techniques and strategies, he is continuously consulted by the national and international press about his experience and knowledge. He is currently the director of Drakonx Investigations and Drakonx Academy, Chief Investigator of Missing Children Global Network (a nonprofit organization), operates as a consultant for several investigative and security agencies and is an active member of the FBI and the Secret Service programs for the national security.

About the location:he Marriott Courtyard has a Bistro in the lobby, set up much like a Panera Bread Shop.  They sell starters, soups, salads, sandwiches burgers and more!  AND have a BAR with a HAPPY HOUR from 5:00PM – 7:00PM. You order at the counter then  take your food to the seating selection of your choice.  We all try and stay in one section, for the purpose of networking.  We are VERY LUCKY to have this place!!!.  They are giving us a conference room for free in exchange for the business we bring to the Bistro.  Although the meeting is free, you will be responsible for your own food and drinks.  Please, let’s show our appreciation and ALL plan to come and eat & drink before this very informative meeting!

Mingle after the meeting:
Feel free to stay, meet, mingle and network with other investigators immediately following the meeting.

**** We need a headcount for the meeting room! ****
